Main focus

; Graduates of this master’s programme will be able to offer high-quality professional translation services, thanks to their mastery of written and oral communication at a professional level in their native language as well as in one or two foreign languages. They will also be capable of identifying cultural differences from a sociological and textual perspective as well as their impact on the translation process and product. Graduates will know how to successfully search for information, using reliable sources and be able to effectively manage the information in a way suitable for the translation context. They will be capable of identifying and acquiring the level of expert knowledge necessary to perform translations within specialized knowledge domains. Finally, graduates will also have acquired a mastery of the skills needed to contribute to the development and refinement of technological tools.

Competences

Students that have completed the second cycle have the following competencies: – Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding that is founded upon a basis or opportunity for originality in developing and/or applying ideas, often within a research context. – Can apply their acquired knowledge and understanding, and problem solving abilities in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their field of study. – Have the ability to integrate knowledge and handle complexity, and formulate judgments with incomplete or limited information, but that include reflecting on social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments. – Can communicate their conclusions, and the knowledge and rationale underpinning these, to specialist and non-specialist audiences clearly and unambiguously. – Have the learning skills to allow them to continue to study in a manner that may be largely self-directed or autonomous.

Specific admission requirements

Students with a mother tongue other than Spanish will be required to have a Spanish C1 level or higher, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.; – A minimum level of accredited linguistic competence, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, will be required for the different specialisations in the degree programme and for the curricular pathway with no specialisation:; 1. Specialisation in Legal Translation, Specialisation in Audiovisual Translation and Accessibility, Specialisation in Specialized Translation with Translation Technologies, and No Specialisation-Professional Translation: Students must have an accredited CEFRL C1 level in one of the B languages (German, French, and English); a CEFRL B2 level in one of the C languages (German, Arabic, French, and English); or accredited professional experience with B and C languages.; 2. Specialisation in Arabic-Spanish Translation: Students must have an accredited CEFRL B2 level in the Arabic language; or demonstrate professional experience in translation from or into this language; or hold a university degree with Arabic as the main teaching language.F80
