Main focus

; The Master’s Degree in ‘Patrimonio Musical’ seeks to provide a solid foundation in the fields of research, management, music interpretation and education, whilst simultaneously training students to take up posts in institutions, dedicated fully or partially to research and any tasks that foster the transfer of this knowledge to the different strata of society. Hence, this Master’s degree proposes to:; – Offer advanced and systematic training in theories and methodologies applied to the study of Spanish and Latin American music, paying special attention to specific areas of relevance in Andalusia, such as Flamenco and the musical heritage of Al-Andalus. – Provide a comprehensive vision of the different areas of Musical Heritage and its projection in Spanish and Latin American society. – Provide a solid, up-to-date and indispensable grounding for professional posts in various institutions, on the basis of disciplinary knowledge in the fields of musicological research, management, musical interpretation and performance. – Provide training in the fields of research, management, interpretation and teaching, tailored to the current demands of institutions related to the research and dissemination of music.; This Master’s programme offers the following characteristic skills to the student: – Acquire advanced training in the areas of research, management, musical interpretation and education, which will allow students to recognise and build on their capabilities and concerns, and to meet the quality standards required in the academic and professional environment. – Use strategic reasoning to set goals and prioritise them in accordance with professional criteria, and be able to assess processes and outcomes. – Select and classify different sources related to research, management, musical interpretation and education, in order to obtain relevant and reliable information, and consolidate their capacity to analyse and interpret these sources. – Acquire the capacity of critical judgement that allows to improve and innovate in processes and outcomes, with the goal of attaining excellence. – Recognise, within in musical research, interpretation, management and education, the cultural value of music and of the ideological discourse shaped around it, so that, both in studies and professional endeavours, they are able to promote values related to fundamental rights, peace, equality and coexistence, as well as the integration and development of persons with disabilities.

Competences

Students that have completed the second cycle have the following competencies: – Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding that is founded upon a basis or opportunity for originality in developing and/or applying ideas, often within a research context. – Can apply their acquired knowledge and understanding, and problem solving abilities in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their field of study. – Have the ability to integrate knowledge and handle complexity, and formulate judgments with incomplete or limited information, but that include reflecting on social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments. – Can communicate their conclusions, and the knowledge and rationale underpinning these, to specialist and non-specialist audiences clearly and unambiguously. – Have the learning skills to allow them to continue to study in a manner that may be largely self-directed or autonomous.

Access to this Master’s degree programme is granted to holders of the following Spanish official university degrees, and to holders of equivalent degrees from other education systems: – Licenciado or Graduado (Bachelor’s Degree) in History and Science of Music, Geography and History (Art History- Musicology), Art History, History, Philology, Humanities, and Philosophy. – Graduado/Titulado (Bachelor’s Degree) in Advanced Artistic Education (Music teacher in conservatories).
