Main focus

; – Acquire the knowledge necessary to provide foundations or the opportunity to be original in the development or application of ideas, often in a research context. – Apply the acquired knowledge and solve problems in new or lesser-known environments within wider (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their area of study. – Integrate knowledge and handle the complexity of making judgements based on incomplete or limited information, and include reflections on social and ethical responsibilities in relation to the application of the acquired knowledge and judgements.; – Clearly and unambiguously communicate their findings, as well as the knowledge and reasoning behind them, to specialised and non-specialised audiences. – Acquire learning skills that enable them to continue studying largely in a self-directed or independent way.; – Differentiate between the artistic, historical and social conditions in which flamenco has been developed as an element of Andalusian and European culture, from a critical perspective in a social and cultural context. – Know the historical, musicological and critical literature related to flamenco. – Understand the cultural and ideological implications of linking flamenco and art. – Distinguish the musical structures in the flamenco repertoire, being able to fully appreciate their syntactic and sound aspects. – Analyse the key points of flamenco as a dance and musical art within the framework of Andalusian culture, in relation to other Spanish dances.; – Evaluate the aesthetic dimension of flamenco dance in the context of flamenco artistic expression. – Analyse the relationship between flamenco and other arts. – Identify flamenco as intangible cultural heritage which is transmitted orally, conceived as art in constant evolution and as an element of identity. – Identify different research methodologies and know how to apply them to the study of flamenco. – Use new technologies at the service of musical research.; – Use fundamental tools to prepare and develop scientific dissemination texts and to communicate scientific contents related to flamenco. – Understand management, business, market strategies, communication and other aspects related to the flamenco industry. – Know the basic characteristics that define a culture-based company. – Differentiate between intellectual and industrial property as specific legal mechanisms for the protection of intellectual creations related to flamenco. – Identify the different types of contract for the management and commercial exploitation of the wealth generated by flamenco.

Competences

Students that have completed the second cycle have the following competencies: – Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding that is founded upon a basis or opportunity for originality in developing and/or applying ideas, often within a research context. – Can apply their acquired knowledge and understanding, and problem solving abilities in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their field of study. – Have the ability to integrate knowledge and handle complexity, and formulate judgments with incomplete or limited information, but that include reflecting on social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments. – Can communicate their conclusions, and the knowledge and rationale underpinning these, to specialist and non-specialist audiences clearly and unambiguously. – Have the learning skills to allow them to continue to study in a manner that may be largely self-directed or autonomous.
