Main focus
; Graduates of this Master’s Degree will have acquired the following skills and knowledge: Knowledge to describe and model the hydro-aerodynamic and biogeochemical processes in: Ocean circulation at a large scale, oscillatory flows in the sea and its shores, and their interactions with the atmosphere and infrastructures (natural and/or artificial), Surface and underground water flows, sediments and substances, their circulation through the surface of the ground up to the atmosphere and their importance in agricultural and natural ecosystems, Freshwater systems and their ecological integrity, and Vehicles and their propulsion systems. Application of methodologies, techniques and models for drafting studies, projects, implementation and control for integrated management and decision-making in coastal and port areas and resources in the open sea, systems of natural and artificial basins and aquatic ecosystems, taking into account their social, environmental and economic repercussions, the requirements for sustainable exploitation, applying techniques for control and optimization, quantifying their uncertainty. Design experiments, carry out fieldwork to obtain, analyse and manage data for the characterization and simulation of the dynamics of the ocean and the atmosphere and of other natural and artificial bodies of water and air and their quality, aquatic systems and their integrity, and the movement of fluid around vehicles, their automatic navigation and propulsion.
Competences
Students that have completed the second cycle have the following competencies: – Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding that is founded upon a basis or opportunity for originality in developing and/or applying ideas, often within a research context. – Can apply their acquired knowledge and understanding, and problem solving abilities in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their field of study. – Have the ability to integrate knowledge and handle complexity, and formulate judgments with incomplete or limited information, but that include reflecting on social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments. – Can communicate their conclusions, and the knowledge and rationale underpinning these, to specialist and non-specialist audiences clearly and unambiguously. – Have the learning skills to allow them to continue to study in a manner that may be largely self-directed or autonomous.
