Main focus

; Graduates of this master’s programme will have acquired the following skills and knowledge: – General basic knowledge of the different subjects relating to the culture of peace, conflicts, violence, and human rights; – The ability to analyse and understand the culture of peace from the critical perspective of different social, political, educational, and psychological models as well as from a gender perspective; – The ability to analyse the various cultural and religious identities and the epistemological, anthropological, and ontological models that arise from them; – An understanding of conflicts and the ability to identify their causes as well as the areas and contexts in which they develop; – The capacity to encourage a positive, dialogical, and dialectical approach to these questions, to their systemic and structural discourse and formulate proposals for peaceful transformation; – Ability to design and develop quantitative and qualitative methodologies for an interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary and multi-methodological approach to peace research.

Competences

Students that have completed the second cycle have the following competencies: – Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding that is founded upon a basis or opportunity for originality in developing and/or applying ideas, often within a research context. – Can apply their acquired knowledge and understanding, and problem solving abilities in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their field of study. – Have the ability to integrate knowledge and handle complexity, and formulate judgments with incomplete or limited information, but that include reflecting on social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments. – Can communicate their conclusions, and the knowledge and rationale underpinning these, to specialist and non-specialist audiences clearly and unambiguously. – Have the learning skills to allow them to continue to study in a manner that may be largely self-directed or autonomous.
