Main focus

; Graduates of this master’s programme will be able to perform a criminological analysis of the phenomenon of juvenile delinquency. More concretely, they will be capable of conducting psycho-social assessments of young delinquents or of juveniles at risk of committing a crime. In other words, they will be able to evaluate the cognitive, emotional, and social development of juveniles, and at the same time, identify potential psychological disorders and treatment needs. Graduates will also be able to pinpoint situations in which minors are victims of crime and to evaluate and promote, when necessary, the most effective legal measures for the protection of juveniles who have been neglected or abandoned. Graduates will be capable of developing social intervention programmes with young delinquents or juveniles at risk of committing crimes.

Students that have completed the second cycle have the following competencies: – Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding that is founded upon a basis or opportunity for originality in developing and/or applying ideas, often within a research context. – Can apply their acquired knowledge and understanding, and problem solving abilities in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their field of study. – Have the ability to integrate knowledge and handle complexity, and formulate judgments with incomplete or limited information, but that include reflecting on social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments. – Can communicate their conclusions, and the knowledge and rationale underpinning these, to specialist and non-specialist audiences clearly and unambiguously. – Have the learning skills to allow them to continue to study in a manner that may be largely self-directed or autonomous.

Access to this Master’s degree programme is granted to holders of the following Spanish official university degrees, and to holders of equivalent degrees from other education systems:; -Licenciados or Graduados (Bachelor’s Degree) in Law, Educational Psychology, Pedagogy, Criminology, Psychology and Education Sciences.; – Diplomados or Graduados (Bachelor’s Degree) in Social Pedagogy and Social Work.
