; Graduates of this master’s programme will be able to design experiments and be capable of scientific criticism. They will also know how to work in a team and communicate with others at a specialised level. The programme helps students to develop practical abilities in research, presentation of research results, and drafting of reports. The skills acquired encompass research and development within the field of Biotechnology, the use of biotechnology in chemical development, biotechnological experimentation and application in molecular biology, pathogen organisms, applied microbiology, immunology, bioremediation, bioinformatics, as well as plant biotechnology. Students will also acquire an understanding of methods for studying protein-protein and protein-ligand interaction, advanced level chemical synthesis and analytical chemistry, and the use of instrumental techniques for the identification and biotransformation of organic compounds, conjugation and natural compounds.

Competences

Students that have completed the second cycle have the following competencies: – Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding that is founded upon a basis or opportunity for originality in developing and/or applying ideas, often within a research context. – Can apply their acquired knowledge and understanding, and problem solving abilities in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their field of study. – Have the ability to integrate knowledge and handle complexity, and formulate judgments with incomplete or limited information, but that include reflecting on social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments. – Can communicate their conclusions, and the knowledge and rationale underpinning these, to specialist and non-specialist audiences clearly and unambiguously. – Have the learning skills to allow them to continue to study in a manner that may be largely self-directed or autonomous.
