Main focus
; Graduates of this master’s programme will have an in-depth knowledge of the typology of Spanish-language texts. They will be able to apply different theoretical models to the study of Spanish and be able to identify different speech acts that occur in this language and their associated linguistic procedures. They will know how to analyse processes of linguistic change and be able to plan future situations related to Spanish. Graduates will have advanced knowledge of the social and cognitive principles that govern linguistic communication and the relation between folk culture and language, particularly Andalusian. They will be able to detect the linguistic mechanisms employed to construct and manipulate reality in the mass media. They will be capable of critically analysing didactic material and adapting different linguistic components to the teaching of Spanish to native speakers. Finally, graduates will be able to solve problems related to the transmission and editing of texts.
Competences
Students that have completed the second cycle have the following competencies: – Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding that is founded upon a basis or opportunity for originality in developing and/or applying ideas, often within a research context. – Can apply their acquired knowledge and understanding, and problem solving abilities in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their field of study. – Have the ability to integrate knowledge and handle complexity, and formulate judgments with incomplete or limited information, but that include reflecting on social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments. – Can communicate their conclusions, and the knowledge and rationale underpinning these, to specialist and non-specialist audiences clearly and unambiguously. – Have the learning skills to allow them to continue to study in a manner that may be largely self-directed or autonomous.

Specific admission requirements
Access to this Master’s degree programme is granted to holders of a Spanish official university degree of Licenciado or Graduado (Bachelor’s Degree) in the fields of Fine Arts and Humanities, and to holders of equivalent degrees from other education systems. Students with a mother tongue other than Spanish will be required to have a Spanish B2 level or higher, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
