Main focus

The Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy is included in Law 44/2003 (21 November 2003) on the organisation of healthcare professions. Physiotherapy is a health profession that can be carried out autonomously or within the context of multidisciplinary health teams. The main objective of this degree programme is to train students to generate their own knowledge, which will be evidence-based, versatile, humanistic, and community service-oriented. Students will be able to make judgements and perform actions that are tailored to the needs of each patient, thanks to their ethical values and aptitude for critical thinking and lifelong learning. The physiotherapist can practise their activities in different fields such as orthopedics, neurology, paediatrics, and cardiorespiratory diseases, among others.

Competences

1. Know and understand the sciences, models, techniques, and instruments on which physiotherapy is based and carried out.
2. Know and understand the methods, procedures, and physiotherapy actions, channelled into their clinical application for rehabilitation or functional recovery. Graduates will also know how to carry out activities for health promotion, prevention, and maintenance.
3. Acquire clinical experience that provides intellectual, technical, and manual skills, and which facilitates the incorporation of ethical and professional values. Graduates will also be able to integrate the different types of knowledge acquired.
4. Analyse the functional condition of the patient, considering physical, psychological, and social aspects.
5. Perform a diagnostic assessment of the physiotherapeutic care to be given, according to the rules and with internationally recognised scientific validation instruments.
6. Design the physiotherapy intervention plan, based on various criteria of adequacy, validity, and effectiveness. Graduates will be able to execute, supervise, and coordinate the physiotherapy intervention plan, using the appropriate therapeutic tools and taking into consideration the personal, social, and physical circumstances of each user.
7. Analyse the evolution of the final results obtained with the treatment in relation to the objectives, and then write a discharge report
